A Little Birdie Told Me...

Bluebird1_2 There are joys which long to be ours.  God sends ten thousands truths, which come about us like birds seeking inlet; but we are shut up to them, and so they bring us nothing, but sit and sing awhile upon the roof, and then fly away.

Renewing By Distressing Furniture

I've had this French Provencial chest on our backporch since we moved into our current home almost 2 years ago. The poor thing started out as a second hand purchase and was part of a complete little girl's bedroom suite. This is the only piece that has been saved over the years. It has many coats of paint on it and has served as a dresser, server for the dining room, a chest in the hallway and then was placed outside on the backporch. I felt it was time to give it new life and bring it back to the bedroom where it belongs. So, I went to the local  Harpeth True Value Hardware store and bought a distressing kit by American Heritage. Here is the result...Distressed_chest for more cool ideas visit Watercooler Wednesday at Ethos.

Birding Photography

Birdphoto2small_2 I must confess, I am an avid bird watcher. They fascinate me. Song birds have to be my favorite. Their delicate bodies and vibrant colors, not to mention their beautiful tunes can keep me content for hours. With spring here, my trees and bushes are full of nests. My sweet husband, Ethos, has been lured into bird watching along with me. He is now addicted to photographing a robin outside our kitchen window as we chronicle the nest building, egg laying, mother sitting, hatchling feeding (by both mother and father) of this little family. So for Watercooler Wednesday over at Ethos...I had to share this tip on bird photography. Here is how it is best done.Birdphotosmall

Nashville Ranks In FSB's 100 Great Places

  • Nashville may be best known for country music, but today the metro area bustles with entrepreneurial energy. Large local firms such as HCA Inc., Nissan North America and CareMark feed the small business frenzy: According to the nonprofit Nashville Healthcare Council, HCA alone has spun off at least 100 small endeavors related to medicine and management.79_nashville_3

Tennessee is business friendly, having no income tax on wages, and the costs of property and doing business are cheap. One red flag: Suburban sprawl is leading to over-crowded roads and schools. It's easy to see why so many want to put down roots in Nashville: Lifestyle amenities go far beyond the country music honkytonks of yesteryear, and the local college scene is strong. Overall, the city retains a down-home, churchy feel. -Peter Galuszka

2146loudenfront2new_2 WOW!!! 4 bedrooms and 3 baths all  on one level!!! This beautiful home has a level lot and gorgeous hardwood flooring throughout the living area. Decorator colors and new lighting make this home ready for you to move right in.

It features an open dining area and vaulted ceilings. There are ceiling fans in each room. The kitchen has white cabinetry, a gas stove and a pantry. It opens to the breakfast area filled with light from the window that looks out to the back lawn. The master bedroom with its tray ceiling and many windows is truly an owner's retreat with an area great for a sitting room, an office or exercise room. There is a large walk-in closet in the master and a large bath with a separate garden tub & shower and double sinks.

The are three other bedrooms featuring walk-in or oversized closets. One bedroom is great for a guest suite with its own bath and privacy from the other bedrooms. The laundry room is immediately off the kitchen area. There is also plenty of storage in the attic above the 2 car garage. A pull-down stair case provides easy access.

This home is just minutes from Hwy 840 and I-65, conveniently located to shopping, dining and schools. Please go to Realtracs.com and choose MLS#965367 for more information on this home. A YouTube video will be available soon.

My Favorite Book

Lifeexpectancy Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz is not a deep theologically or philosophically life changing book. (wow, did you like all those adjectives???) However, it is full of  creative writing that is so true of the author's style and wit. He has the ability to send so many truthful and meaningful messages to the reader almost in a subliminal format. You catch yourself spellbound in this dark comedy full of anxiety one moment and laughing your head off the next and then kaboom....there is a profound thought or idea or view that speaks so much into your life. This is a great book to just have fun with. Enjoy!Great book ideas around the watercooler today at Ethos.

My All Time Favorite Movie

Ethos has asked....What is your favorite movie? This is a hard one to narrow down. After a lot of consideration, I still come back to "To Kill A Mocking Bird". Maybe it is because I am a southern girl. Maybe it is because I believe in justice and I am encouraged to see that even as I was a young child  Harper Lee was brave enough to publish this bookl and the allow it to be released this book to become a movie that took America by storm during such already turbulent years. Maybe it is because secretly I wanted a dad like Atticus. Or maybe I'm a girl after Scout's own heart. Or because I felt sorry for Boo. Whatever, this movie impacted my life and continues to do so each year as I watch it every October. This post is a part of Watercooler Wednesday.
