As in “the names have been changed to protect the guilty” close to this book.

I must say that I could probably tell you what is on page 39, paragraph 3, line 2, second word because I have read and read and been read to and read to by the author, my husband. And I am still and even more excited than I ever have been about what this book has to say about our sexuality and our spirituality.

I’ll let you in on a couple of my favorite chapters….Chapter 6-“The Lie About Sexual Equality”. HA!!-my man has finally gotten it. He explains how we women are equal to men and how scripture has been so twisted and turned throughout the years, causing men as well as we poor women to view ourselves unequal to the superior male specimen. NOT. Love it!

My next favorite chapter is Chapter 9-“Sacred Sexuality: Relational Spirituality” . The best part about this chapter is that sex is not just about the bedroom. It is a way of life. The author parallels sex with the fruits of the spirit: Love, patience, joy, peace, kindness and goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. “This list of qualities paints a picture of relational sexuality that is built and nourished by the presence of the Spirit.” (Chapter 9, page 117, paragraph 2, line 1) TOLD YA, I could do it!!! Producing a life of freedom!!

Finally, another favorite chapter is Chapter 11-“Sex As Communion” – to this lifelong evangelical, this is a precept of which I had never thought before. Yet, I fully experienced the true meaning of God’s love and desire to commune with me as I began taking the Holy Eucharist at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church a couple of years ago. Entering the church just 2 blocks from my home as the bells were inviting me to join the congregants I had no idea that I was in for such a glorious journey and that God was at the end waiting for me to give me his body and his blood. As my first Holy Eucharist service came to a close, there was great celebration, the pipe organ was blasting and the congregants all singing to the top of their lungs. (i.e. orgamsic???) What a great parallel to the sexual journey that Randy and I have enjoyed as a married couple for over 30 years.

Finally, finally, this book could not have been written from a life that has been perfect, nor a marriage that has not had its downs along with its ups. My hat is off to Randy for allowing God to use the struggles and truths that he has learned from those struggles that God has allowed in his life and in our marriage to encourage others in this crazy life here on planet earth.

Okay, enough, you’ll just have to read the book to find out what I’m really talking about. You can order the book at the website: sexliesandreligion.com.

I would like to give a huge CONGRATULATIONS to my husband of over 30 years, Randy Elrod, author of Sex, Lies and Religion. The man never quits dreaming and he never quits go after his dreams. This has been a 2 year undertaking and I am so proud of him.

All my love to you…Babe!!!
